X OVER RIDE 2016
X OVER RIDE: 2016 Freeride Action at the Kitzsteinhorn
For the 13th time on 18. and 19 March 2016 in Zell am See- Kaprun fought for qualifier points. Under the umbrella of the AUSTRIAN FREERIDE SERIES, the X OVER RIDE also promises a top-class field of participants.
The first X OVER RIDE was held 13 years ago, and now it’s hard to imagine the riders’ calendar without the three-star event as part of the Freeride World Qualifier series. Riders from all over the world follow the call of one of the most legendary and oldest freeride contests in Austria. From New Zealand to Norway, from Holland to Spain – many of these riders are pursuing a big dream: to get a coveted starting spot in the Freeride World Tour one day.
For the fifth time in a row, valuable points for the Freeride World Qualifier Ranking will also be fought for on the Lakarschneid Face. The X OVER RIDE in Zell am See-Kaprun pours out 1,100 important and weighty points to get one step closer to this goal. Especially at the end of the season, these points can tip the scales.
Many big names on the current World Tour have already conquered the Face on the Kitzsteinhorn. FWT Fieberbrunn winner Lotten Rapp (SWE) is one such rider, but also the two-time freeride world champion Nadine Wallner: “The X OVER RIDE was definitely one of the sticking points on my way to the Freeride World Tour, there I could still collect crucial points. The face is definitely a rather selective one, but it’s totally fun to prove yourself on the Lakarschneid.”
For years, the X OVER RIDE has also been considered an important contest for those international top riders who were not able to qualify for the Freeride World Tour finals in Verbier during the season, and thus fight in Zell am See-Kaprun for valuable points to remain in the Freeride World Tour.
