THE COUNTDOWN IS ON FOR THE X OVER RIDE 14, FWQ*** ON THE KITZSTEINHORN
One week before the season finale of the AUSTRIAN FREERIDE SERIES on March 22nd, the X OVER RIDE on the Kitzsteinhorn will give the athletes another good points cushion in the fight for the Austrian freeride championship title. It is not for nothing that the 3-Star-Qualifier in Zell am See-Kaprun is at the top of the list of those who have this title in focus: The snow reliability thanks to the altitude at the Kitzsteinhorn allows a contest in optimal conditions even at the end of March.
Especially the Austrian top riders want to play their home advantage, after all they are all repeat offenders and know the face at the Kitzsteinhorn virtually like the back of their hand. The race will start again this year with a rather rocky steep section on the Lakarschneid, at around 2,560m. The steep slope turns into a wider field where riders can show fluid and speedy turns. In the last section the course becomes more selective again – the chance for all riders to convince the judges on the way to the finish at the Langwiedboden at an altitude of 1970m.
Once again, the world’s best three skiers and two snowboarders will be selected for the extremely select starting field of the SWATCH FREERIDE WORLD TOUR BY THE NORTH FACE. Alone 10 of the 50 international Qualifier events take place in Austria. With a victory in the AUSTRIAN FREERIDE SERIES and especially with points wins in the higher categorized Austrian Freeride World Qualifiers, like the one in Zell am See-Kaprun, the riders are a good step closer to the dream of a starting place in the FWT.
